Could an unknown credit card cancellation be a sign of Identity Theft?
Capital One sent me a letter saying that they are closing a credit card account that I never had. Is this a sign of Identity Theft?

It’s possible identity theft, but also (and more likely) a possible clerical error somewhere. I’d give them a call to find out what’s up.
While I don’t discount the reality of identity theft and I know it does happen, you have to understand the "severity" has been created by credit reporting and monitoring agencies as a ploy to get you to buy their products and make them more money. The reality is that when someone sees activity that may be identity theft, it’s far more often and likely to be a clerical error.
