I’m 17 years old and lost my wallet, which had my driver’s liscence and SSN in it. Do I need to call the social security fraud hotline even (1-800-269-0271) if I don’t have any evidence that my number has been used?
I can’t check my credit records because I’m 17; how do I know if my identity was stolen?
What should I do? I’ve alerted the three credit companies already, but don’t know what else to do.
And P.S. This is going to sound really bad, but…I lost my wallet three weeks ago and still haven’t done much about it. My mom keeps saying it’s probably in the house and doesn’t seem to care. I know, I’m an idiot and I’ve learned my lesson not to carry my SSN with me.
