Is it car insurance fraud if I was to buy a car but ask my dad to get the insurance and say that he will be driving the car? Just so that the car is drivable. I mean I am always driving my parents cars anyways, and that is not illegal. Or would a better idea be that he can mention me as other drivers of the car? and if so would that affect the premium?

Two years ago, my husband hit a truck from behind. They both got out of their cars.My husband gave the guy his information first. While my husband waited for his information, he check the guy’s truck and had a minor dent.My husband truck had a big damage. When they seen a cop passing by, my husband and witnesses waived to the cop to stop. When the guy seen the cop, he left the scene without giving my husband his information. The cop got mad and did not took a police report because the other guy left. Now its been two year and my husband and his former boss, the owner of the truck are being sue by him. The guy is claiming physical injuries, lost wages, and property damage over 25,000 dollars. The court paper said the accident happend at a light intersection. But my husband said it happened away from the lights. We have one witness that remembers little about the incident. She remember minor damage to his truck and the guy was okay.Should we hire a lawyer to help us with the case?
Belive me their is cops out there that are lazy to write a police report. When the cop showed up, he yelled at my husband and some witnesses because they did not stop the guy from leaving. One witness that we talk too, two days ago remembers a little about the accident. She rememberst telling the guy to wait for the police for a report. But he left the scene.
I am stating that my husband is reponsible for the minor damage. But we cannot believe this amount of lawsuit. We think that someone told this guy that he could sued for more and he is going with it.
Also we want to see if we could hire a lawyer. We dont know the cop, this was two years ago.We need to know if the cop also could get in trouble for not writting part of my husband report. The cop did not give my husband a ticket.

willfully destroy their cars / trucks / suv’s by pushing them off parking garages, cutting trees down on them and rolling giant boulders off cliffs to crush their cars. I realize they are going for a comical effect but they really are inadvertently promoting insurance fraud. How soon until someone actually does this and uses as their defense in court that Toyota promoted it. Your thoughts?

I purchased a car nearly 7 weeks ago for 00.00. I paid by check and the seller cashed my check. I have a copy of it with his signature from the bank. I have been in contact with the seller and he kept telling me the title was going to be FedEx to me. First the seller had to wait 10 days for the check to clear he said before sending the title then he said he sent it but it was a weekend… then he said the car had to go through an inspection to be shipped to me… I am in Michigan and he is in Maryland. Next he said he hadn’t shipped the title so I could get insurance on it…. he basically gave me the run around for 30 days and after 30 days you are NO LONGER eligible for the Ebay Motor Sales Insurance. This I found out afterwards. NOTE: He has my money and my car… I have contacted Ebay. I have filed formal complaints with the Ebay People and they say all they can do is suspend him?????? This is crap in my eyes. It has now been 7 weeks plus. I have contacted ..
I have contacted local athorities here and have the police working on it but they say their hands are tied too. No jurisdiction since the crime took place in Maryland and not here. Maryland police tell me the crime took place here. How can that be???? I just want my car or my money. Isn’t this a FELONY on the sellers part???? And ebay doesnt care???? I thought ebay protected people. It would be different if they said they couldnt help me if I had received my car but I did NOT receive the car and the seller has my 00.00 – HELP ME! Who can I call next??????
"Uncle Jed Knows" – so are you telling me that there are millions of buyers daily on ebay that are STUPID? Transactions take place every second on ebay and millions of auctions end daily. They sell cars every single day. It was NOT underpriced the car I bought and I was not the only bidder. Maybe I was stupid to buy from a person with numerous sells and 100% feedback but paying first is the ebay rules. I wish there was another way around it too, but that is how they set up the auction. I still have a hard time believing that there is nothing ebay can do for me or others that find themselves in this situation. I will continue to search to find answers and I will take suggestions people give me here also. I am sick over my loss of money and it’s not a drop in the bucket to me. I work hard and I am a believer that I have ‘Rights’ in this world.

Scenario:Hungary woman (w/ young daughter) & American wed in 2000.
Present day 2007-Mom & American still married by law, Hubby incarcerated for one year. They could not make the interview regarding the "alien relative petition" due to his jail time. The appointed lawyer (since inception & paid in full) advised of Hubby’s inability to appear, however provided no proof, nor gave a time when said interview could be rescheduled. (& another form failed to be submitted on behalf of daughter.) Due to the negligence of the attorney- Mom & daughter 100% established (owns 2 homes, 2 cars) are being denied permanent residence and/or adjustment status and are being asked to leave the US within 30 days (no option to appeal / court see’s it as abondonment in filings) .
What recourse is there against the lawyer for failing to do a job he was paid for? More importantly, can another attorney step in and step UP ASAP? Does immigration care that the attorney goofed? Can Mom/daughter get a "stay"?

Someone I know was in a car accident. They were hit from behind and pushed into 2 other cars. The person that hit her doesn’t have enough insurance to cover all of the damage. So the person I know sued the person that hit her to cover the damage of her car. Meanwhile, the person I know hasn’t made all her car payments and is letting her car go back to the finance company, damage and all. She is collecting money (a settlement of a few thousand dollars from the insurance company and from the person that hit her for the remaining few thousand.) If she lets the car go back and she keeps the money from the settlement, is that considered insurance fraud? What would the reprocussions be from it if it is??
It’s hard for her to do the right thing because all she sees is $$$$$$ dollar signs.

I was wondering would it be legal or illegal to have multiple insurance policies and claim on them for a single vehicle/property? Say a car for example, if you had a wreck (someone struck your car and totaled it) then a person could potentially recoup the cars value x how many policies the person is holding on the car? I know that companies can (and do) legally take out insurance on their employees, why could an individual not have multiple policies on a car?

My ex never agreed in writing to help with college but he had said he would. Through the years I never pushed for all the child support I could get because I thought he would help with college. He paid her room deposit, took her to register and then the very next day said he couldn't pay that much and asked if she could go to a cheaper school. She found a cheaper school and then the night before graduation he backed out of all help. He paid his last child support in June and that has been it. He knows she takes monthly medication and he will not help with those expenses either. She has now chose a community college and is working to pay her rent, etc. The worst part is he sent his two step kids out of state to a private Christian college and paid for their cars, cell phones, laptops, etc. But his own he will not help with. Since it was understood all along that he was going to help and now he backed out, can I take him back to court for some type of fraud or something?
Even though she is working, according to all the government, I am responsible for her college until she is 24 or married. For that reason she is not able to file on her own next year with her income to get extra help.
Many of you have pointed out that 18 is an adult. However, my point in all of this is that he put his step children through an out of state private college and provided all they needed. I realize that at some point they have to be adults BUT the government will not let us do that. She is working, has her own place, etc. but the government will still not consider her on her own. I am angry because he stands up in church and professes to be a Christian, works in the church but he and wife are doing all they can to turn their backs on his first marriage. This is wrong. This is a man that would not even give his daughter 100 towards a security deposit for her apartment. He would not even help her get simple house-hold items to get started. She has done NOTHING to them. In fact, she has went over-board in being nice to all of them to get along. Even when she was excluded from trips to the beach each summer. If a child is college material, the parent should make an effort to help.
One more thing, this is also a man who got over 0,000 a few years back in a settlement plus he makes + a year and that does not include the income from his wife.
Yes, the government does make them adults at 18 BUT to apply for any loan, they have to start with the one from the government. It does not matter if they are even 21 years old, living on their own, working, etc. They have to include my income (if any) and my husband's income until they are 24 or married. Even though my husband is the stepfather we have to give them our income for them to use in determining any grants, etc., before they other things kick in. I think that it is awful that a man has to have a court order to do anything for his daughter. I know that is current wife is behind it and I think it is awful that he can not be man enough to stand up to her and say that she is his daughter and deserves his help the same as the stepkids. Yes, I tried to stay out of the courts because I thought this man was actually honest in what he said through the years but I was wrong. As for his stepkids, they have grown into rude adults – I should have taken him for every cent.
Sorry – forgot. Yes, I do live in the United States.

To make a long story short, two years ago, my husband was pulling into a business parking lot, and a woman was walking out of the building with her head down. He stopped about 8 feet before hitting her, but she claims that he hit her. After my husband had left the store, the woman (an employee at the store) asked the other clerk who he was. The other clerk (who we were familiar with and friendly to) told the woman "oh, that's Dr. S*****.
About two days later, my husband gets a call from the police who are investigating this "hit-and-run". Their investigation shows absolutely nothing happened, so it was closed.
The woman proceeded to sue him through his insurance company, and claimed that she had back pain, etc… from the "accident".
The woman went to about 10 doctors who all said she didn't have an injury (except for one). This woman has a history of drug problems (perscription), and a history of being hit by cars!
It is a total fraud case, so what will they do to her?
Also, this woman didn't even go to the doctor right away… she went two days later. His insurance company refuses to settle with her because they say it is blatant fraud.
I mean, how likely is it that someone who has reportedly been hit by cars 3 times (including once when she worked at a car wash!), prove that they are NOT defrauding his insurer? Why is my husband the one being sued, instead of criminal fraud charges filed against this woman?
She has wage garnishments, unpaid student loan debt, and a history of prescription drug and marijuana abuse.
How will the judge handle this… will it be like Judge Judy, where she makes the other party pay for the costs because they were in the wrong?
