Why do women’s groups and organizations oppose paternity fraud legislation in most states?
Is this another example of hypocrisy with the women’s movement and/or feminist movement? Notable groups such as NOW and others oppose legislation in states in which if a woman defrauds a man with regards to paternity of a child that the man no longer has to financially support the child and in some instances there be a penalty for doing so i.e. pay the man back. Also they oppose that at the time of birth every child be DNA matched to their father to avoid this type of fraud. What is this all about? Studies have shown that as many as a third of women lie about such a thing. So why do prominent organizations within the women’s movement or feminist movement or whatever you want to call it, oppose this type of legislation?

News to me. If this is so widespread a feminist stand, where’s your links? DNA testing sounds expensive to me, not exactly where I want my tax dollars spent-I’d rather spend the money on birth control and sex ed so there were less people having the kids in the first place.
Which studies again prove that women lie about "such a thing"? And what do studies say about men, how many know which women they’ve impregnated and which ones they owe child support to? If women are suppose to know who the father of the kids are, than the guys should know too right? And how many guys are coughing up the change for their wild oats? And how many guys are not paying their child support right now?
If a woman or man is defrauding someone else, and knows the kid is not theirs and they are getting support for it, then I can see back pay, but how can you know for sure without tests? Your question doesn’t provide a single fact to support your suppositions. A few unsubstantiated assumptions doesn’t make it true.
NOW and other feminist groups are pro-paternity fraud and anti-fathers rights.
I totally agree with you. One of my coworkers had his ex-wife after years of telling the truth, decided that since the father of her child no longer could support her she would go after her ex-husband who was deployed when the child was conceived. What groups like NOW want is the freedom of women to screw over the bad guy man even if he is not the father of the child. My thoughts are if you purposely mislead a man and he pays child support then it is found out that he is not the father then the woman needs to spend a little time in jail for fraud and pay the father back with interest.
If those two issues (paternity fraud payback & the mandatory DNA testing) are part of the same legislation, then I can understand why people would oppose it.
The Paternity Fraud penalty & payback makes sense, I wholeheartedly support that idea, but automatic DNA testing for every child born is completely absurd. If you can’t separate the two, then you don’t get either… it’s like pork spending riding on the back of a GOOD bill, and justifiable reason to kill it….
This doesn’t surprise me. Personally, I don’t agree with most of NOW’s agenda. Furthermore, I think that women who take part in paternity fraud should be punished.
Yup, and they always turn the other way when men get screwed; however, I don’t think organizations like NOW are out to strictly help women and demonize men. I think they are here to strictly help women even if the cost is to demonize men. In other words they don’t want to make men suffer but to help women some sacrifices must be made
They are trying to maintain the superiority of women when it comes to children. They believe "equal rights as long as I have more rights".
Imagine if they made paternity fraud a crime; 15% to 30% of all women would be criminals.
